In 2022, Quip wanted to build upon the success of their pride toothbrush and expand the rainbow gradient finish to other products. While this may seem like a simple execution, it involved a lot of material sampling rounds with the manufacturer to fine-tune the perfect look and determine which products looked the best with it.

First, we sampled all existing metal products with the physical vapor deposition (PVD) finish. This helped us determine which products took the PVD finish the best, and which products to avoid using the finish on. Spoiler alert: products with buttons did not do well, therefore the water flosser was out (for the time being).

Months of sampling with the manufacturer allowed us to fine tune each product’s PVD coating and acceptance guidelines. In 2023, 3 new products launched with this special finish - the rechargeable toothbrush, refillable floss, and gum/mint dispenser.

Quip continues to donate $50,000 per year to LGBTQIA+ orgs around the country in support of inclusive education and healthcare.
