In 2022, Quip wanted to partner with an artist to bring artwork to their oral care products. The brand was new to customization on their products, and needed help determining the right strategy, execution and partner for this limited edition collection.
First, we scouted 5 artists that the Quip would want to partner with. At the same time, we determined what type of applications were possible on Quip’s product range. We wanted this to be a premium product, so the suggested product material should be metal, and that further defined what was possible with the scouted artists.
Quip decided the partner with Shantell Martin, a British visual artist best known for her black-and-white line drawings. While mostly working in larger scales, she was interested in partnering with Quip and bringing her artwork into a smaller scale.
Shantell’s artwork translated very well to laser engraving on metal surfaces. We sampled Quip’s toothbrush, gum dispenser and refillable floss with placeholder artwork, which ultimately determined only 2 of the products should be used in this limited edition launch.
Quip launched a toothbrush and gum/mint dispenser with Shantell’s custom artwork, and custom packaging was created to enhance the unboxing experience for consumers.
